European Forest Week
From 20 - 24 October 2008 the European Commission, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Ministerkonferenz zum Schutz der Wälder in Europa (MCPFE), and the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) are jointly organizing the European Forest Week (EFW). Objectives of the European Forest Week are:
- to highlight the woodland and forest sectors and their contribution to economic and social development in Europe.
- to increase awareness of the important role of forests in mitigating the effects of climate change , in securing the supply of fresh water and in protecting the environment
- to bring together other sectors in a constructive dialogue on forest-related issues.
As the above objectives reflect those of the WaldSaat e.V./Forest Seeding Association, we are correlating this year’s autumn campaign projects with the European Forest Week. For more information on the European Forest Week and other projects click here.
