Chuck Leavell becomes patron of the Forest Seeding Association (Waldsaat e.V.)!
Famous support for Forest Seeding Association (WaldSaat e.V.)
A few months ago I was talking about the Forest Seeding Association and the Squirrel Forest Campaign to a good friend who’s a colleague at the radio station when she suddenly said, “Oh, I know just the right person for you!” She explained that she had only recently met the Rolling Stones keyboardist Chuck Leavell at a studio concert which she had presented. He was not only an excellent musician of international fame (also played with Eric Clapton, The Black Crowes, George Harrison, The Allman Brothers Band and many more), but also a passionate friend of the forest. Chuck had told her about his commitment to environmental protection and reforestation and about his own forests which meant a lot to him. She thought that Chuck would be willing to support our association e.g. by lending his name to it as a patron.
Well, I wasn’t so sure he’d really want to do it. Our committee members discussed the idea at length and we decided to at least give it a try. And so we sent off a carefully prepared email, translated by our English member Kathleen Richter, to Chuck Leavell’s private email address which my colleague from the radio station had forwarded to us.
And would you believe it – the very next day we got a reply from Chuck Leavell saying he would be pleased to become a patron of the Forest Seeding Association (Waldsaat e.V).
So now we have the great honour of greeting Chuck Leavell himself as patron and supporter of the Forest Seeding Association.

"Trees and forests do so much for all of us ... They give us materials to build our homes, to make books, to make musical instruments and other wonderful things. They clean our air and water and provide homes and shelter to all manner of wildlife.
If we take care of our forests, our forests will take care of us."
Chuck Leavell
Welcome Chuck, and thanks a lot ;-))
Along with his actual forest projects Chuck Leavell has in the meantime built his own internet portal with which he wants to do as much as possible to increase people’s awareness of environmental issues the world over.
“All of us want to make positive changes in our lives so we can do better for our environment. Our new website, The Mother Nature Network is designed to give people the information they need to make these positive changes. We speak in a voice that people can understand, and we present the information in engaging ways. Our goal is simply to be the number one environmental website in the world.”
Good luck with that Chuck!
